- All hikers must "sign in" before beginning the all-day hike. And when the hikers return at the end of the day's hike, they must also "sign out".

- After sign-in the actual hike begins along the Hunt Trail. Small rocks and boulders are nestled between the many trees and undergrowth which abound near the Katahdin Stream, which parallels the trail for some distance.
